How it works

Five streams, side by side.

Along follows Don Finto's five-stream reading plan. Instead of one long road from Genesis to Revelation, you walk five at once: one chapter from each, whenever you come. Each stream keeps its own bookmark, so nothing gets lost between visits.

  1. A painting of a father running to embrace his son on the road home.

    History

    Genesis to Esther, and Job

The long story of God and his people.

  2. A painting of a vineyard on a hillside.

    Prophets

    Isaiah to Malachi

    Warning, longing and promise.

  3. A painting of sheep resting beside still waters.

    Poetry

Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon

Prayer, song and wisdom for ordinary days.

  4. A painting of Jesus calming the storm from a small boat.

    Gospels and Acts

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts

The life of Jesus and the church's first steps.

  5. A painting of a sower scattering seed across a field.

    Epistles

    Romans to Revelation

Letters to young churches, and to us.

When a stream reaches its last chapter, it simply begins again. The streams drift apart over time, and that's how it's meant to be.

Never behind. Never ahead.

Your place waits for you.

There are no dates in Along. No streak to keep, no day counter, nothing to catch up on. Read one chapter or all five. Step away for a week or a season. When you come back, your bookmarks are right where you left them.

  • No calendar. Your plan is five bookmarks, not a schedule.
  • Your place moves only when you finish a chapter, by reading it or listening to the end.
  • One chapter counts. Read one stream or all five. Whatever you read today is enough.

Today's thread

One thread through five chapters.

Five chapters from five corners of the Bible often speak to each other. Each day Along looks for the idea running through yours, and shows you the order it unfolds in, with a word and a short hint for each chapter. Read three and stop there, and the thread through those three stays with you all day.

Today's thread · an example

Peace, lost and given back.

  1. Genesis 3lost
  2. Psalm 3kept
  3. Isaiah 2promised
  4. Matthew 5taught
  5. Romans 5given

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”

  • Fits your moment. Two minutes, five, ten or fifteen? Pick a listen that fits from the chapters still to go. Each one stops when it's done.
  • Honest on quiet days. Some days the chapters don't line up, and Along says so plainly rather than forcing a connection.
  • Labelled as Along's. The thread is Along's reading of your chapters, never Scripture itself.

Listen

Hear every chapter, read by a human voice.

Every chapter of the Berean Standard Bible has human-narrated audio. Listen on a walk, on the drive, over the dishes, or with your eyes closed.

  • Follow along. The words light up as they're read.
  • Keeps playing in the background and from the lock screen, even while you read.
  • You choose when it ends. Keep going through a book as long as you like, or stop after any chapter.
  • Play all five. Today's chapters, one from each stream, and then it stops.
  • Listening counts. Every chapter you hear to the end is marked read for you. Skipping ahead never is.

Ask

Ask about what you're reading.

Our promises about Ask

  • Scripture, word for word.

Every verse Along quotes is placed in the answer exactly as the Berean Standard Bible has it. It's looked up, never written from memory.

  • Real cross-references.

When Along points you to other passages, it draws on OpenBible.info's curated cross-references, not guesswork.

  • Help, not a voice from heaven.

Along never claims to speak for God. Its answers are always labelled as Along's help.

  • No spoilers.

It won't give away chapters you haven't reached yet, unless you ask to see them.

Your journey

Progress is the journey, not a calendar.

Along's Progress screen is a map of the Bible, filled in with every chapter you've read or heard. Tap a book to see its chapters.

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

What is the five-stream plan?

A way of reading the Bible taught by Don Finto. The Bible is read in five streams side by side: History (Genesis to Job), the Prophets, Poetry, the Gospels and Acts, and the Epistles, one chapter from each. Every stream has its own bookmark and begins again when it reaches its end, so you're always somewhere in the whole story.

Which translation does Along use?

The Berean Standard Bible (BSB), a clear, modern translation dedicated to the public domain. Every chapter also has human-narrated audio of the BSB, read by Bob Souer.

Do I need an account?

No. Along works fully without one. If you'd like your reading backed up and synced between devices, you can sign in with Apple, Google or email, and you can delete that account in the app whenever you like.

What happens if I miss days?

Nothing at all. There are no days to miss. Your five bookmarks stay exactly where you left them, and Along picks up from there whenever you're back. No streak resets, no catching up.

Is my data private?

Along has no ads. Your reading positions stay on your phone unless you sign in to sync them. Questions you ask are sent to answer them and aren't stored. Along collects anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app, and you can turn them off in Settings. The privacy policy has the details.
